Here is an outline of data collected by this website –

What personal information do I collect from people that visit my blog and why

Name and/or username, email address, IP address and website URL, and non identifiable data such as browser information in order for me to see my website statistics. I use your data to run my site efficiently and to personalise user experience.

How do I protect your information

I would never ask for your credit card number or payment details, and your personal information is contained behind secured networks only accessible by a limited number of people who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. I implement a variety of security measures when a user enters or submits their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.

When visitors leave comments on my website I collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitors IP address and the browser user agent string to help with spam detection. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. You can choose to be notified for follow-up comments by email and be notified for new posts when you leave a comment, but these things are optional and only you can opt in.

Cookies are small files that a site, or its service provider, transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s, or service provider’s, systems to recognise your browser and capture and remember certain information. Cookies are placed on the device you are viewing the site on and will remember when that device accesses the site. Cookies do not collect personal information but monitor your behaviour whilst browsing.

If you leave a comment on my website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is so it’ll save you time if you comment again however this is optional. These cookies will last one year. These cookies and the information they collect help improve this site for yourself and future visitors by monitoring traffic of users and success of particular content. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies which can be done through your browser settings.

Embedded content from other websites

Occasionally, at my own discretion, I may include links to other articles, images or videos on my website. These websites may collect data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies and I therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nevertheless, I wish to protect the integrity of this site and would welcome any feedback about these sites.

Third Party Plug Ins

I personally check my stats through the Jetpack App on WordPress, and this site uses Google Analytics to collect information such as details of traffic and visitor behaviour patterns, but you can opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on. Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.

Website back up

I back up my website regularly, which includes all comments and personal data attached.

Do I share data

I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any data or personally identifiable information to outside parties unless required to do so by law or for giveaways where I collaborate with a brand. For example if I selected a winner and the prize was being sent out directly from the brand I would need to supply them with your details, but this would be clearly stated in the giveaway’s terms and conditions. By entering a giveaway you are consenting to these terms and are therefore happy for your information to be passed on as agreed.

How long do I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For any users that register on this website the personal information you provide is in your user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at all times except usernames.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you, but this does not include any data I’m obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

My contact information

Should you have any privacy concerns, or require further clarity on any of the above, please contact

This policy will be reviewed regularly and updated when and where appropriate – last updated 25th May 2018
