The Collection by Yardley London

Yardley London, an Iconic British Perfume House, have been one of the worlds leading purveyors of perfumes and quality soaps since 1770. I was lucky enough to attend the recent launch party for The Collection, five brand new fresh floral fragrances inspired by the beauty of jewels.

With almost 250 years of floral fragrance expertise and an untimely elegance I has always assumed that Yardley was an expensive brand that was aimed at an older market, and after attending the launch party I can fully hold my hands up and say I was 100% wrong. The decadent new collection embodies the transformative power, beauty and allure of glittering gemstones and celebrates the opulence of British glamour, whilst maintaining an explosion of fine floral scents.

Each fragrance has its own personality and were developed by prominent perfumers. Daisy Sapphire – Cheeky, Playful & Cute, was developed by Juliette Karagueuzoglu from memories of how a field of daisies smell and the freshness of the air on a dewy morning. Inspired by the striking vibrancy of the yellow sapphire, this has top notes of dewy green leaves and apple unraveling into hyacinth and white rose at its heart, drying down to base notes of sandalwood and musk.

Rosie Ruby – Classic Rock Chic, was developed by Domitille Bertier who wanted to create a unique and unforgettable scent that gives confidence to every woman from the first spritz, and exudes the beguiling beauty of the pink ruby stone. Rosie Ruby has ripe fruity top notes of mandarin, pear, peach and cassis, folded into an assertive heart of pink pepper, peony, rose and orange flower water, balanced by a soft, warm base note of cedar wood, sandalwood and vanilla.

Poppy Diamond – Confident, Strong & Powerful, was also developed by Juliette who wanted to express all the facets of a rose in a contemporary way, in particular the Damascenian Roses in the Turkish fields whilst representing the brilliance and magnetism of a diamond. With refreshing top notes of pear and bergamot, enveloped in a sweet, subtle note of honey with an elegant heart of rose, peony and lily of the valley, enhanced with a sensual base of cedar wood, sandalwood and vanilla.

Lilac Amethyst – Edgy, Mysterious & Androgynous, was developed by Nelly Hachem-Ruiz whose goal was to create a memorable scent that fuses fresh and deeper sensual notes together in perfect harmony. A highly textured fragrance, inspired by the enchanting allure of the amethyst crystal, has an intriguing blend of fresh pear, lemon and bergamot with basil in the top note, leading into a sensual heart of fog, peach flower, spicy black pepper and powdery heliotrope, complimented by a skin soft, warm, wood amber base.

Last but by no means least we have Flora Jade – Boho Chic, created by revered perfumer Anne-Sophie Chapuis. A lover of chypres, Anne-Sophie wanted to create something airy and delicate, with a natural, earthy bouquet. Capturing the bold, exuberant spirit of the jade gemstone this has fruity, aromatic green top notes of peach, bergamot and galbanum blend with an airy floral bouquet heart of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang and orris, delicately wrapped up in base notes of patchouli, sandalwood and moss.

Designed to appeal to the mature millennials of 35+ I actually think these are going to be a big hit across all age groups. I am turning 30 this year and I attended the event with my friend Charli, of the same age, and her daughter who has just turned 13 and we are all big fans of the range. I absolutely adored Daisy Sapphire, as did Charli and our second favourite was Poppy Diamond, whereas her daughter absolutely loved Rosie Ruby.

The most exciting part about this launch, aside from an array of gorgeous scents with a little something for everything you ask, would have to be the price point. I was in shock when they told me these would be retailing for a mere £25 for a 50ml bottle, an absolute bargain if you ask me. The scents are absolutely divine and are available from Boots or the Yardley website.
