A Co-Op Christmas

Food to go, starters, main course essentials, chocolate and sweeties, cheese and crackers, free from range, Co-Op has it all this Christmas including my favourite Co-op Irresistible Prosecco. In May this year Co-op announced they would be the only national UK retailer committed to selling 100% British fresh meat across all their fresh products. Customers can now shop with Co-op knowing the meat in their Christmas sandwiches, glazed gammon and turkeys are all British.

This year’s on the go sandwiches and wraps range from £2.95 to £3.35 and include the Irresistible Maple Bourbon Bacon Relish & Oak Smoked Mature Cheddar Sandwich and Turkey & Trimmings Wrap. There are 4 options in the range and you can also get a small pack of Pigs in Blankets with Cranberry Dip for £2. Pigs in Blankets have got to be on of my favourite parts of Christmas dinner so I love that they give you the option to grab them on the go.

Another thing I’m extremely excited for from Co-op this year is their Irresistible Dressed Lobster which you can get for the bargain price of £14.99. At their Christmas In July event I got to try a number of pieces from the upcoming range and one of the best things about Co-op is that they sell their food at a very affordable price but don’t scrimp on their quality.

If you are not the most confident cook you can get the Turkey & The Trimmings Christmas Box which serves 2 for £12. It contains a British Turkey breast joint wrapped in smoked streaky bacon, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, gravy and a cranberry compote. You will need to add your own potatoes and veg but Co-op sells these as a set for £3. All you need to do to cook it is put it in the oven on the metal trays it comes in (the turkey and trimmings box that is) and leave for 50 minutes. A quick Christmas dinner for two for £15, saving you time and money.

It’s not Christmas if you’re not consuming your body weight in chocolate before feeling bad about the weight gain in January, or at least that’s how it is for me. For the kids, or the child within, get some of the Elf & Santa Chocolate Lollies for £1 each. For the whole family there’s the Irresistible Winter Desserts Collection and Irresistible Artist Collection, both retailing at £6 but they are also available on a 2 for £10 offer. For £1.50 you can buy a packet of Milk Chocolate Satsumas which contains 6 pieces, and as a treat for the adults you can get 10 Boozy Baubles for £3.50.

Cake. Desserts. After dinner treat. God I’m drooling just writing this post, I want it all! My Mum and sister adore Macarons and for £4 you can get their Christmas Collection, how cute would those colours look in the middle of your Christmas table. If you have a lot of family over at Christmas how about getting the Irresistible Chocolate Wreath for the bargain price of £6, or even if you don’t have a lot of family coming over why not indulge yourself in a little chocolate overdose.

If you want to splurge and make a splash with the family for £12 you can get the Irresistible Cracking Chocolate Orange Cheesecake Dome. The chocolate dome with orange splashes across the top once broken conceals a hidden cheesecake inside, it’s basically a Christmas Easter egg and double dessert, who would say no to that. If you prefer a more Christmas themed cake you can get the Robin Cake for £7, doesn’t he look cute.

Co-op really does cover all the bases when it comes to Christmas dinner and the whole Christmas period including a large range of sharing platters and party food. For £5 you can get the Irresistible Lamb Kofta, Mini Pitta & Mint Yoghurt, and if you like the idea of alternative snacks other options include Hirata Buns & Korean BBQ Pulled Pork, Beetroot & Goat’s Cheese Rosti, Mini Enchillada Cups or Bang Bang Cauliflower which all retail at £4.

Flying back to the Christmas theme you can get the Christmas Tree Tear & Share for £8, a great snack for a party or when you have people popping in and out and need some bits and pieces put out that can be eaten like a buffet style. And you can’t have a buffet without the staple mini sausages, for £3 you can get the Sweet & Sticky Mini Sausages, and to clarify these are delicious.

Co-op have a very large range of cheese and crackers with prices as low as £1 for a 90g block of cheese and ranging up to £7 for the Irresistible Award Winning Luxury Cheese Selection, any cheese lovers dream platter. They literally have a cheese for everyone, including the classics like Vintage Cheddar and Wensleydale with Cranberries, to interesting flavours like Double Gloucester with Onion & Chive and Red Leicester with Red Pepper. Personally I am most excited for the heated melted cheese pots that you can dip crackers in, excuse the description but I don’t have the exact details or price on that one but I will definitely be picking some of those up.

Finally if you prefer a savoury snack they have a wide range of Crisps, Snacks and Nuts and for £3 you can get a pack of Honey Caramelised Cashews and Almonds. The packet of crisps I am most excited to pick up multiple packets of are the Sparkling Prosecco Bubbles for only £1, I have so tried many Prosecco flavoured things before and most of the time they taste nothing like it at all but these are absolutely divine, I wolfed the entire packet straight after the event that I got in the Christmas goodie bag. I will be a little bit heartbroken if they are not in any of my nearby Co-ops. If you want to try something a little different this Christmas then pick up the Tortilla Rolls for £150 which come in a Pigs in Blankets flavour and also Gingerbread.

For anyone with a gluten or dairy intolerance or who prefers the Free From Range Co-op have a great selection. For Christmas some of the Gluten Free options include a Christmas Pudding for £1.50, Apple & Cranberry Sausages for £3.29 (2 for £6), Bacon & Cranberry Stuffing Balls for £3.29 (part of the 2 for £6 range), Pork Loin Joint with a buttered onion and herb stuffing for £6.99 and Cheese Board Hand Cooked Crisps for £1.50. Some of the Christmas Dairy and Gluten Free options include Chocolate Gifting Box for £4.99, Cranberry Sauce for 99p, Iced Fruit Cake Mini Bites for £2.49 and Chocolate Coins for £1.50. They also have a large range of Free From products, both sweet and savoury, and bring out more as the year goes on.
