Women and Protein Myths Busted!

My main goal for 2015 is to improve my fitness and health so I have joined the gym, I am slowly working on improving my diet, and I have introduced protein shakes from MyProtein into my days. Protein is not just for the boys, and I wanted to take the time to burst the bubble on some common myths associated with girls and protein.

MyProtein are the ultimate sports nutrition experience; at the forefront of product innovation, they are able to offer excellent value on a large range of products. Not only do they have over 350 sports supplements available, you can also visit The Zone to view workout plans, recipes and get shown specific products to use in relation to your body goal or particular sport you are participating in.
MYTH Protein is only for men MYTH
Protein is essential for tissue growth and repair, so if you’re in the gym smashing your workout a lack of protein can hinder your body’s ability to recover. When you drink a protein shake it immediately breaks down and is absorbed into your system. Short term, a protein shake will reduce muscle soreness and kick start your body repairing itself, and long term, it will enable you to reduce body fat.
MYTH Women need special Protein MYTH
Have you ever seen man-only protein? No, because protein is protein! Ignore the pink packaging or fancy curly writing, it’s all a con to get you to spend extra money on protein. There are different types of protein, but they are tailored on your goals rather than gender.
MYTH Protein will make you look bulky or fat MYTH

Protein makes you stronger and fuels your body, but it will not give you a masculine physique. Testosterone is needed to build up lean muscle tissue and a woman’s body only has a fraction of what’s needed, even with the addition of protein you won’t be packing on the muscles a man would.

A great post – never really been keen on protein shakes and I am not the biggest fan of chicken – but I was ecstatic when I realised pastrami was loaded with protein… it has been my saviour on my weight loss journey! #WeightLossWednesday x

I love chicken, but sadly I prefer it covered in grease and breadcrumbs, not really the preferred choice. I'm so fussy but there's so many different flavoured protein shakes now that I've managed to find one I like 🙂 xx
