On Mother’s Day I booked an Afternoon Tea for me and my Mum at Patisserie Valerie, but I also like to buy my Nan a present on Mother’s Day and so when Colorland asked me to review their Personalised Mugs I jumped at the chance and knew instantly who it would be for.
Family is extremely important to me, with both my parents single parents being my heroes. On my Dads side my Nan, whilst only being in her 20s, got herself and four young children away from an abusive spiteful man who had been beating her and my oldest uncle, and so every Mother’s Day I think she deserves a little extra spoiling.
As soon as I hear the word personalised I’m always instantly interested because I love that once you take the time to personalise an item it instantly becomes a more sentimental item and means more than a wild guess present would to me. I’m not saying it makes other presents irrelevant, or that I appreciate them any less, but there’s just something about an item you can keep for years and look and say such and such bought this for me.
Personalised Mugs are a great gift for any occasion, and with Colorland you can select from multiple pre-designed templates with a range of text, graphics and slots for photos, but unlike other personalised websites where you stop there, Colorland go one further and let you choose from 6 different colour options for the interior of the cup. Could they be setting us up more perfectly for the gram or what?!
The site is really easy to manoeuvre and I found it a real quick process to create my mug, starting with choosing a template for your design. I chose the Family Together design and when you start editing a project it lays out the design flat so you can insert your photographs and see how they will all sit together around the full mug without having to awkwardly spinning the design around. In the editor you can adjust the layout to your needs, add text, frames and clip art and choose your favourite background. I like the layout and clip art that was already functioned on my design so I just needed to add photos.
I couldn’t quite capture the quality of the photographs in my pictures but I’m really pleased with how it looks and everyone who has seen it has asked where it’s from and have loved it. I went for a red insert and then chose and array of photographs that I know my Nan loves. The four kids in the first photograph are my Nan’s children, the second from the left is my Dad, and then I chose a photograph from my Nan’s 50th birthday party with her surrounded by family and friends. Finally as it was a present from me I chose some photographs of myself as a baby and as an adult that I know my Nan would love.
The mugs retail at £10.99 but I’m running a giveaway for the next two weeks where you can enter to win your very own colour mug from Colorland. You could treat yourself to a brand new favourite tea or coffee mug, or treat someone for an upcoming birthday present or just because you love them and they deserve a treat. Good luck everyone.
