How would you describe your brand
The KP Boutique brand is glamorous, bold, adventurous and a statement brand. We like to get noticed and stand out from the crowd.
What lead you to working with shoe design
To be honest I have always loved shoes, what girl doesn’t? But I am the only girl in a house of 4 and everything is fighting, army and constant battles. I wanted something pretty for myself, a hobby you could say. I started on an old pair of heels just over a year ago and I found I was actually quite good at it. My friends then asked me to create dream shoes from them and that was when KP Boutique was born.
Do you have a background in design
I attended London College of Fashion just after I left school and completed a Fashion, Design & Technology National Diploma. I totally loved the whole experience; designing and constructing garments. As many women out there I have always had a passion for fashion. I later went on to complete a Business Enterprise Degree and thought that one day I would combined the both. After graduating from London Guildhall I became an assistant diamond buyer for a large jewellery company, I think this is where my love for bling grew, and the rest is just history!
How long does it usually take you to crystallise a pair of shoes
It totally depends on the style of the shoe; it can take me a couple of hours to a couple of days, depending on how many times I get distracted
What are your favourite’s shoes that you have crystallised
My favourite are my new spring /summer wedges “Hundreds & Thousands”. They are full of colour and fun, and are such a playful shoe. I think as they have an assortment of colours they are going to compliment almost all outfits. They’re going to be fabulous with just a pair of skinny jeans in the day and then transformed to a glam outfit for the evening with a cute little dress
What do you find most rewarding about your job
Seeing the finishing product and the reaction I get from people, it’s amazing it gives you such a buzz knowing that people want something you have created
What do you find most challenging about your job
Time. I have a full time job during the day, and I have a husband and 2 young boys to look after. Trying to fit everything in 24 hours is sometime tricky
How did it feel to see the TOWIE girls wearing your creations
I’m totally overwhelmed with them wearing my heels, it’s really nice knowing that people want what you have created but knowing that celebrities want to wear them is a dream come true
Who else would you love to see wearing your shoes
I would love to see someone like Katie Price as I think she is a typical Kp Boutique girl. She’s glam, confident and definitely a head turner.
How would you define your own personal style
I’m definitely a high street girl, I live in my skinny jeans and converse when I’m working but when I go out I love to dress up to the max in my head turning high heels, teamed with a sexy but sophisticated outfit
Do you have any plans to expand your business into other areas, e.g. crystallising phone cases, iPods, etc.
Not only do I have an amazing collection of colourful crystallised heels I also have a beautiful collection of bridal heels. I have expanded my crystallising to other footwear that includes Converse, Vans, also offering the service of bespoke designing etc. I make a large selection or crystallised gifts such as wine glasses, crystallised names in frames to mention just a few. There is no limited to what Kp Boutique can create
Where would you like to see your brand in 5 years
To have a contract with a big high street brand, that would be mind-blowing, team up with some magazines and to be at London fashion week showing off my designs
I love all the expansions that Kp Boutique have made, and I look forward to seeing where they go in the future. Other than the crystallised heels of course, I love the wine glasses that you can have personalised with your own message as well as the stem and foot crystallised. You can take a look at more photos from the Kp Boutique range on their Facebook page and talk to the lovely lady herself over on Twitter. I look forward to seeing them at High Street Fashion Week.
