Whilst planning my best friends 21st I decided to order her a make up palette from Nars Cosmetics and like any true beauty addict I had to pick up an item or two for myself, and after falling in love with them I went back and ordered some more bits.
After picking a palette for Amy and having a snoop on the website I realised I did not have a great selection of blushers and decided I would treat myself to one or two. I had been using the Gwen Stefani Cheek Palette which has a very deep rose shade and a light pink satin shade, so I wanted an inbetween shade as these were pretty much either end of the pink spectrum. The shade that caught my eye first and fit the brief was Angelika, a cotton candy pink and gold and silver sparkle. It struck me as the perfect day and night shade depending on how much you put on and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. The swatch of Angelika is about 3 layers of the shade built up so it is really versatile with day and night.
Although I said I wanted different shades from the Gwen palette I just couldn’t bring myself to not get Gaiety, a bright candy pink shade. Again I swatched the blush with about 3 layers built up so you can use it as a very subtle shimmer or build it to a solid pink. The pigmentation in these blushers is so great and you don’t need to use a lot of product so if you’re concerned with the £23 price tag I would say treat yourself or put it on your Christmas list as it’s worth it.
Adoration was the blush that I went back to buy because I was so pleased with the products and I had actually bought this for a friend about a year ago and always thought it looked lovely but I never thought to get it for myself. It’s a little more at £30 but you are getting two shades, and it’s not a case of every Duo having a highlighter, others are bronzers or two blushers. The left shade is a sparkling baby pink that is perfect for highlighting. The right shade is a shimmery hot pink that you can apply damp or dry, but be careful with dampening it as it can end up a tad too shimmery. I wouldn’t recommend applying the highlight damp as it comes out too metallic unless you are aiming for that.
The final purchase was the #NARSissist Dual-Intensity Blush Palette which at £40 might seem very steep but for four shades you are getting a lot of product for your money. It’s definitely an all-in-one cheek palette with a highlighter, blush and two contouring shades. The highlight is a Soft Tulle and gives a subtle but stunning shimmer, that also adds a little extra dabbed on top of your eyeshadow. The second shade is a Damask Rose with a golden sheen which gives it a more bronze look than being in the pink or red family. This is perfect for contouring for me as I’m quite pale and it’s not too overpowering. The third shade is Peony and like all their blushers is a buildable shade so works for day and night. The final shade is Titian, another contouring shade that for me is a night time shade as it’s a stronger colour.
Have you tried any Nars products, or do you have any on your Christmas Wishlist?
